WordPress Meetup (January 2017)

Speakers:

So our 2 speakers from January have been decided. Shaan runs a local WordPress based web agency, while Adrian is flying in from the United Kingdom to meet us all.

While these sound like developer type talks, I assure you that average users and designs would find it pretty interesting as well.

Building a custom homepage with Advanced Custom Fields
Shaan Nicol, Founder of ChillyBin Web Design

• Shaan talks about using Advanced Custom Fields to build, edit and generate a custom layout for a stunning homepage that’s easy to manage and light on the server

WordPress in Big Media: It’s complicated
Adrian Mcshane, Technical Project Lead for Human Made

• Adrian talks about his experiences building WordPress sites for huge publishing companies

We’re looking for speakers for the next few months. Please ping Jon on Facebook, post in the comments here or send us a private message via Meetup.com

Global WordPress Translation Day

Global WordPress Translation Day is 1 full day dedicated to bringing WordPress to more people around the world. 24 hours of live training sessions on WordPress i18n & L10n.
http://wptranslationday.org/

More details will be added soon but expect possibly the following

• An appearance by the WordPress Translation Team Lead

• Tutorial on how translations work in WordPress

• Tutorial on how one helps with translating WordPress, themes and plugins.

• Language Experts to help with translation

• And possibly stream live to the rest of the world!

Location Update: We are having the event at General Assembly’s office which is very close to Orchard MRT, it’s basically right behind DFS T Galleria.
Exit to Shaw from Orchard MRT
Walk along the new Michelin 1 Star queue at Pacific Plaza to the back and up a slope to get to 8 Claymore Hill.
Use Google Map if you’d not sure!

If you’re wondering what you can do – don’t worry. If you know another language beyond English, you’d be helping make WordPress accessible and useful to the non-English speaking world (which if you don’t know, is much bigger than the English speaking population).
So come down, contribute to WordPress in your mother tongue or 3rd language. We’ll show you how.

WordPress & PHP Combined Meetup (August 2016)

Hello! So in lieu of PHP Conference Asia happening in August, we’re combining our meetups together with the PHP Community. Incidentally, we have some overlaps with the organisers and speakers for the PHP Conference and WordCamp Singapore so we thought it’d be a great idea to synergise.

Please note that this is going to be very developer oriented.

You’ll likely see many PHP developers from different countries in this meetup.

Talks

Get ready for the peak season: scaling your PHP web app
